About me

My name is Magdalena Smola, and my story is a tale of three countries that shaped me as an artist—Poland, Norway, and Italy. Each of these places has contributed something unique to my creative identity.

In Poland, my love for craftsmanship was born. It was there, alongside my grandfather – a master in silverworking – that I learned the secrets of jewelry making, the importance of precision, and the value of manual work. In Norway, I learned respect for nature and how to live in harmony with its rhythm – it's from that environment that my deep attachment to ecology and sustainable creation originates. In Italy, I fell in love with relationships, warmth, and the aesthetics that permeate every detail of daily life.

What I create?

At Souls Studio, I primarily focus on handcrafting a variety of unique items:

  • Jewelry from recycled 925 silver: Sourced from old, forgotten pieces.

  • Sea glass and mosaic glass jewelry: Created using the Tiffany technique, incorporating glass remnants from other projects.

  • Clothing: I both design my own models and redesign second-hand garments.

  • Graphics and illustrations: Specializing in linocut and woodcut techniques, which I also apply to clothing.

  • Portrait and landscape photography.

I create intuitively and from the heart—not for market demand, but to tell stories. My designs aren't just meant to adorn; they carry meaning, memory, and emotion.

Education

I began my artistic education in Norway, where I attended a visual arts high school for three years, specializing in Art, Design, and Architecture (Jessheim videregående skole). It was there I first encountered traditional printmaking techniques like linocut and drypoint, as well as photography and graphic design.

A year later, I studied at the University of Oslo, delving into the History of Ideas. This program allowed me to better understand the foundations of Western culture and thought, which now influences my approach to art and the world.

In 2024, I completed my bachelor's degree in Art and Dissemination at Oslo Metropolitan University. This program focused on engaging with art audiences, both in public spaces and cultural institutions. I gained experience as an art mediator, working at places like the Skog gallery and historical museums in Oslo, where I led workshops for children and young people.

-Magdalena

Today, as a 24-year-old artist, I live and create in Italy. Souls Studio is my own place - a space where I combine traditional craft techniques with a deep respect for nature and spirituality. Each object that is created in my atelier is unique - not only visually, but also energetically.

What's Important to Me:

  • CREATING CONNECTIONS

My goal isn't to build a brand in the classic sense; I want to create a space where souls can meet. Where recipients feel seen, heard, and important. Every person who chooses my work becomes part of this story. This is incredibly fulfilling and moving for me.

  • INTENTIONALITY & MINDFULNESS

Every element in my work is chosen consciously—with respect, love, and consideration for what it can bring into another person's life. I work slowly, mindfully, and with reverence for nature's cycles.

  • SUSTAINABLE CREATION

I use materials that already exist: recycled silver, sea glass, remnants of mosaic glass. I give a second life to forgotten things—because I believe there's immense value in repair and transformation.

  • THE SOUL OF OBJECTS

I believe that objects can carry support. They can protect, remind us of loved ones, of ourselves, of nature. They have their own energy and place in someone's life - and that fascinates me.

  • CLOSENESS TO NATURE
I am inspired by the natural world - its rhythm, changeability and delicacy. I create in harmony with the seasons, with what the world around me offers. Nature is not the background of my work - it is its heart.

Values

At Souls Studio, we believe that objects crafted with soul resonate with the soul. They are not just jewellery, clothes, or graphics—they are carriers of stories, emotions, and tender gestures. Our mission is to create items that are beautiful, yet not empty; items that connect, not just decorate.
